Q2009D won't update an online account

Jun 09, 2009 3 Replies

I'm getting a CC-506 error, which Q tells me is

If Quicken is unable to match your downloaded information to a Quicken account, the account is not updated. To prevent information downloading to the incorrect account, Quicken doesn't update an account if a match cannot be made.

The irking part is that *nothing*has*changed*. I've changed nothing in Quicken and nothing to do with my bank acct has changed. Quicken won't tell me *what* it was getting [that it can't match] and I have no clue what to do next. The bank tells me this is some quicken problem and they really can't help either. There is an online page about this error, but I don't quite understand what the steps it is asking me to do, in particular, step

2:
  1. Log in to your financial institution's Web site.

I've done that, no problem

  1. Navigate to the download page and click download to Quicken.

This is the step I don't understand. there *is* a download page but it is one of those "what statement do you want to download" and it comes in 8 formats. One of the formats is "Quicken Qsomethingsomething". Should I do a download with that? Which period [last month, month to date or "since last download]? And is this a thing where after I download it I feed it to quicken and when they say:

  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to update your accounts. * If the update is successful, open the account in Quicken and then update your accounts with the Update Now button on the account Overview or Summary tab. * If the update is not successful, refresh the online setup information for the account.

They're talking about *in*quicken* now [NOT on the bank's website]?

thanks!

Let me just clarify that I've been using this acct online with Quicken with no problem for several months now. I have a *LOT* of transactions in the acct. so this isn't a "setup" problem but a bit of a "what got broken". I'd say "what changed" but I haven't changed anything in quicken land, the parameters are all correct, and nothing's changed on the bank side.

I've seen similar things happen on a number of occasions for various accounts. The easiest thing to try is to disable online access for the account in Quicken. It will tell you that you need to call you bank, but you don't need to do that. Then, enable online access again for the same account, entering the appropriate account number, and password. That has fixed it for me every time.

Hope this helps.

that did it! disable/reenable and all's well with the account. dunno what was wrong but thanks for the 'fix'! /B\
