Q2012 Reconcile Window Transactions Order

Well, whaddayaknow?! I also have a QUICKEN.INI file in C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Quicken\Config - and it also is 2 KB!

As you (and Han) found, Win7's Search does not find that file, but good old dir /s in a Command Prompt window finds it and shows it to be 1,603 bytes, dated today. And there is another copy of the same file at C:\Users\All Users\Intuit\Quicken\Config .

The Command Prompt also finds the smaller (107-byte) file, dated 3/11/2012, in C:\Windows. And no file by that name on my E: drive, where my QuickenW resides.

To my surprise (since the search I did only found what I posted above), I also have a Quicken.ini file in that folder. And it too is very big.

I use a program called "Search Everything", or "Everything" that sets up and uses a database of file names on selected drives (not truecrypt encrypted volumes). The advantage of it is a very, very fast search of (partial) filenames in that database. I recommend it.

1. The big one we mentioned
2. A littler one in C:\Windows
3. A single liner called usingquicken.ini only listing just "[UsingQuicken]" in C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Quicken\Inet\Common\Localweb\Services

I wonder why. I just tried Agent Ransack and Search Everything. They both found all three Quicken.ini files in just a few seconds.

I also use it (as I just said in my reply to RC). Yes, it's very fast, but its disadvantage (as compared to Agent Ransack, which I also use) is that it can't search for text in files.

You're welcome. I generally use Search Everything for file names and Agent Ransack to search for Text. And Windows Search if I'm too lazy to invoke one of them and I expect it to quickly find what I'm looking for.

Thanks so much! My Quicken.ini file had Sorting=-1; changing it to Sorting=1 did the trick!
