Quicken 2006 Deluxe - Reconcile questions

I upgraded from Quicken 99 Deluxe to 2006 Deluxe last month, and I just did my first Reconcile with the new version. There were two differences that I preferred in the 99 version, and I wonder if the same thing can be achieved with 2006: (1) Previously, all EFT transactions appeared at the top of the Reconcile list. Now, they are all "integrated" with checks, and all transactions appear by date. This is much more difficult for me to reconcile because I have a number of automatic payments scheduled (utilities, etc.), but the transactions do not always appear on the same date. As a result, it is much more awkward to locate these transactions than it was when all were listed at the top. (2) Previously, there were tabs to the right of the screen that I would click when I needed to move quickly from Reconcile to Register. These are not on my current screen.

Is it possible to get both of these options (but especially the first one) in Quicken Deluxe 2006?

Thanks, MaryL

Nope, you'll have to learn to live with the new. But all is not bad. Have you tried clicking on the "View" drop-down and sorting by check number? I think that sorts by the Num field and should thus group your transactions together as you prefer.

As for the tab, when I look at my reconcile, it occupies the right-hand portion of my screen. On the left is the Account Bar with all the accounts listed. Clicking on an account takes you to the account (and minimize the reconcile window). You can also double-click a transaction in the reconcile window and go directly to that transaction in the register.

You can also get directly to the register to "Edit" a transaction,or add a "New" transaction by clicking the reconcile menu choices of the same name; or right-clicking on a transaction in the register to get the same choices. Return to the reconcile by clicking the minimized reconcile icon (called Statement Summary).

That's what I have been doing. I *much* preferred the Quicken 99 method, but this is workable. However, mixing all of my automatic payments with checks is a *real pain* because some companies use different dates on different months. Thus, any system I try to use (sort by date, sort by checks) mingles them in such a way that it is awkward to find them. I am actually considering a return to Quicken 99 even though I would have to re-enter everything for the last month.
