Quicken 2007 Deluxe R4 Reconcile Problem

When I go to reconcile my checking acct with Q2007 Deluxe R4 it only shows me items that have nothing in the 'clr' column. I need to see the ones that are blank *and* the clr ones in order to reconcile. I've been using Quicken for many years, got 2007 a few months ago but believe I've reconciled since then and don't remember this. can anyone help?

Also, when I go to change amounts in the splits for a paycheck for example, i'm used to just using the 'end' key to go to the end of the field and then backspace, for example if the unemployment withholding is set to 3.94 by default but this paycheck it's 3.97 i'll just go to the field, press the 'end' key then backspace to get rid of the 4 and type 7 and be done. in 2007 when i then leave the field it goes back to 3.94. i can only change the field if i type over the whole number. is this a known bug? TIA

That's how a bank rec works-you only get the option of selecting the uncleared transactions. Once a transaction has been cleared as part of a completed bank rec why would you want to see it again when you do the next bank rec? This is how quicken, quickbook, and peachtree work so it is NOT a bug.

You can see the cleared and uncleared ones in your register.

I'm using 2007 basic and using the End key works as you posted. Do a single click on the field to unhighlight the field if the end key method is not working for you. Now you can edit the number.

If the transactions that are cleared (Clr="c") have a "Posting Date" (usually supplied during downloading) later than the end date of your reconcile, they won't appear in the reconcile window.

You can see/modify the Posting Date by right-clicking the transaction, then holding down CTRL while left-clicking "Copy transaction".

I suspect the OP is not speaking of cleared transactions that were 'cleared as part of a completed bank rec'. If you download transactions, they will be marked within Quicken as cleared.

Cleared does not mean reconciled.

In Quicken, as well as QuickBooks, the cleared transactions for the current reconcilliation period do indeed show up on the reconcile screen. Selecting an item in that screen marks it as cleared. You need to see ALL items from the current statement in order to reconcile. If the OP does not see the 'cleared' transactions, something is definately wrong (though I am not at all sure it is a program bug).

Yes, you are exactly correct. These 'cleared' transactions are, for example, transactions I had entered manually and then marked as 'clr' when I did an online up date and they 'matched' transactions that were downloaded from the bank. So when that happens quicken marks them with a 'c' for 'clr'. But they are NOT reconciled (or marked 'R')! i need to see them in my reconcilation window to mark them as reconciled there.

The behavior I'm expecting is what I've seen in quicken for years through many versions, I"m not sure why it's different now, but I need to find out.

I just shut quicken down and restarted it and I'm see> >> When I go to reconcile my checking acct with Q2007 Deluxe R4 it only

Ok, I removed the 'c' from the 'Clr' column of each transaction thinking that would be a manual work-around and now even though the Clr column is blank these transactions STILL do not show up when I go to reconcile!

I see two others > When I go to reconcile my checking acct with Q2007 Deluxe R4 it only

If you memorize or schedule using a transaction that's previously been reconciled, and then edit the memorized or scheduled transaction to remove the R, future occurrences of that transaction will not appear in the reconciliation screen. To fix this, manually enter a transaction that duplicates the no-show transaction, delete the no-show transaction, then memorize or schedule the new transaction.

Ok, here is a question.

Have you set the option to reconcile after download? If so, Quicken will reconcile to your online balance and NOT your statement balance. When you go to 'reconcile' there will be no cleared transactions.

To change this behavior, open the reconcile window, and make sure the option is set to reconcile to paper statements. Quicken should warn you that there may be problems converting back to paper reconcile. If reconciling to your paper statements is what you want, ignore the warning message.
