What's different between the working computer and non-working computer? Same OS? Same firewall? Same OS patches?

It's not clear exactly what steps you took and in what order, and I don't understand why a java error would be involved, but: if you are trying to download via web-connect (QFX file), you do not want to Activate the account yourself. If you Deactivated in order to reset the account, you should leave the account deactivated and do another download, then Quicken will ask what Quicken account the download is for and when you identify the account, Quicken will "Activate" it for transaction download.

ZoneAlarm, which you noted is running on the XP machine, is a firewall (which you also noted). But now you say you don't have any firewalls?

Is ZA on the Win2K box? You say the machines are networked - are you using one for ICS (Internet connection sharing) or are both connected to a router which is between your computers and your Internet connection?
