QP2009 Hidden Accounts Weirdness, Etc.

Hi,I just submitted a bug report to Intuit regarding the following two issues. I was wondering if anyone else has observed this behavior. Unfortunately I can't remember if it was an issue with R1 or if it started with R2, but I *think* it's been ongoing. I'm currently running WinXP Pro SP3 (fully updated). (My Vista machine needs a fresh install, so I haven't used it in a bit, but IIRC, I saw the same problem on Vista HP32 SP1, too.)(1) In drop-down lists for transfers, etc., Quicken lists all accounts, even *all* my many hidden (closed) accounts. This means *a lot* of scrolling through hidden accounts to get to the active one(s) I really want. These are properly hidden accounts that don't show up in reports config screens unless I check the "show hidden accounts" box. It sure would be nice if the hidden accounts didn't show in drop-down boxes for regular transaction activities. That is, if I wanted to see & use them, I wouldn't have hidden them in the first place!(2) In some report config screens, the "Tax Impact of 401(k) Implications" account is visible and checked. (This occurs in the affected reports no matter if I have the report set to show hidden accounts or not.) The latest report where I noticed this was a self-made "Annual Income" report. (I rarely if ever use Q's ready-made reports, or if I do, just as a starting point.)I have small *.png files of each incident if anyone's interested in seeing them. I can provide URLs, but I don't care to list them here due to potential spam issues.Also, I recall once having to "break in" to that Tax Impact of 401(k) account to get rid of some orphan transactions. I believe it was John Pollard who provided the magic process to do so. I saved that message but cannot find it in my archive of Quicken tips. It looks like I was involved in the original discussion, but I can't find any record of anything pertinent that I said.

All I can tell you now is that I do not see the problem in either Q2008 Premier R9 or Q2009 RPM R6 (Windows XP Pro). I checked both the Category field drop down and the register menu Transfer form; hidden accounts do not show when "View hidden accounts" (Q2008) or "Show hidden accounts" (Q2009) is unchecked.

There is, what I consider, a bug in Q2009 that could affect one's perception of this situation. Whenever you hide an account in Q2009, Quicken automatically puts a check mark in "Show hidden accounts". If you don't catch that as you're leaving the Account List, you'll start seeing hidden accounts where you did not expect to see them, and probably not realize why.

John... oh my goodness, you are absolutely correct. One simple little check box and the problem is fixed. What a pain! I cannot thank you enough for pointing me to this solution. I was dreading having to contact Intuit and be told "reinstall the software" or "disable your anti-virus" or something silly like that.
