Yes, I am worried (as I have found data corruption in the past). I have found a solution. On a daily basis, I use Quicken to copy the file (which I have found cleans up the data corruption), and then use Quicken to rename the file. This is also how I keep 7 recent backups. On an annual basis, I do the year end stuff, so that I have a file for each year. Each file (including current one) has about 4 years of data in it. I rarely have a need to refer to financial data older than 4 years ago (but when I do, I can).
I still am using Quicken for DOS. I have about 100 accounts.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FORCED UPGRADE TO THE LATEST VERSION!!!!!
There IS a forced upgrade to a NEWER version.
Go out to eBay and buy 2006 or 2007 for a fraction of the cost of

I am using Q 2008 but if these damn files were backward compatible I would go back to Q99 in a heartbeat with no reservations

I chose to stay with Q2001. It does everything that I need.

Doesn't Q save a copy of your Q99 data during the upgrade process? If so, it should be easy to go back, provided you haven't entered a ton of data since the upgrade.

That's the catch. By the time I got fed up with 2008 I had entered a couple of months of data.

I always grumble about what pesters me in an upgrade. Then I learn to live with it. It helps to focus on the good sides, if you can find them.
