TTax 2011 will not import from Q2009

ahhh - the joy of Quicken marketing....

The current version of TTax 2011 will NOT import data from Q2009. The full dsiplay message indicates that only Q2012, 2011, and 2011 will work, and if you want.... gee - you can upgrade to Q2012 right now.

Unless I'm wrong - Q2009 is still a valid and working product for a few more months, and has not reached sunset status -

I am using Q2012 - recently upgraded from Q2009 - and have used TaxCut (now:H&R Block At Home) since 1996.

Every year starting with probably Q98 or Q99 I've done Reports/Tax/Capital Gains and Reports/Tax/Tax Schedule and Exported to a Report to a tax export file. That file was then imported into TaxCut. The Quicken paths are from the current Q2012 but am pretty sure they're applicable to virtually all versions.

I have to believe that TTax has the same import capability.

As far as I know Q2009 will work forever. The only thing "sunsetting" is the OSU/Direct-Connect aspect for automatically downloading transactions. The bookkeeping/categorizing... functions of Q2009 remain undisturbed. You can continue to export/import into virtually any tax software that you could before OSU is no longer supported. Geo. Hi, ps56k.

Go ahead and select Import from Quicken(2012, 2011, 2010), then click Continue. On the next screen, click Assist me with Import. Then you should see this information:

Quicken

You can import Quicken 2010, 2011, and 2012 data directly into TurboTax CD/Download software for Windows. To import from Quicken 2009 or earlier, or to import into TurboTax CD/Download software for Mac, you must first convert the data to a tax exchange format (.txf) file. TurboTax Online, TurboTax Business and TurboTax for iPad do not support Quicken import.

Run Quicken 2009 and export your data to a .txf file. I'm running Q2012 and it does not tell how to do this, but Q2009's Help should tell you. (As George said, only the online features of Q2009 are subject to sunset; the rest of it - including the file export functions - should continue to work indefinitely.) Then run TurboTax 2011 again and choose to Import from the TXF file.

ok - I'll take a look... It was just a test anyway, to see where and how TT handled the imported data from Quicken.

Yeah - I know about the sunset issues. The online download is the main reason I use Quicken... mostly stcok investments. So, I just upgrade every 3 years on schedule.

It just hit me weird that the didn't include Q2009 as a "current" version -

ok - just did it - after a little searching around Quicken...

Menu -> Reports -> Tax

three choices -> and then use the Export Data pulldown

and then choose -> Report to Tax Export File (.txf) Cap Gains - works ok Tax Schedule - works ok Tax Summary - not avail as a choice for exporting

Hi, ps56k.

Since I almost never use Reports, it didn't occur to me to look there. But, yes, it seems to be the same in Q2012. I only went far enough to see the PDF choices on the menus. Thanks for that guidance - and I hope it helps with your Q2011 tax return.
