Quicken 2005 cannot import downloads from credit unions using OFX or QIF imports

Quicken does not support OFX. It uses 'Web Connect', which involves QFX (CUE-EFF-EX, not OH-EFF-EX). Web Connect requires Quicken to connect with some server to verify that the QFX file, and your copy of Quicken, is valid and current. It also requires the bank/financial institution to pay a licensing fee, or carry Intuit advertising.

My error. Mistook the OFX for QFX. Fortunately I can access my credit union data via QFX without Intuit acting as a middleman.

Not much to tell really but note the reply was part of the thread began by the OP. The credit union has tabs to download direct to your Quicken or MS-Money application. Pick either the default time frame or choose your own. Save to file.

Now you have the data. Quicken may want to "phone home' first. GnuCash simply imports and applies that data. In the end I have the same functional use of the data but not the concern Intuit will turn things off to coax me into buying another unneeded version.

Instead of Quicken bill pay I use the CheckFree web pay via the credit union. Working online I'm seeing the actual register provided by the credit union. Downloading the data is only for future historical archives.

Well, that explains why Quicken wants to dial out when I try to use it. Which explains why it is a "web connect" file, and not an otherwise useful collection of data.
