ver 2003 vs 2005

Is there any advantage to updating to 2005? I would like to track mutual funds now and I know 2003 does it but is 2005 easier? It seems you need to know quiet a bit about investing to set it up. thanks Mike

Q05, IIRC, has fixes to the investing part of the package that are good. If

03 works for you, I'd suggest you might think about waiting until around October. That's when Intuit will release it's annual "upgrade" to Quicken 2006. Check out the features and watch the gnashing of teeth and whining here. You should wait at least a month or two to see how it is going..... Be careful, though, don't take the flood of complaints here as proof that the new version is a POS. Most complaints are "I don't like the way they do this..." or "They changed this and I like it the way it was"...

What I do is wait until December when they release the latest version of Turbo Tax. That's when you can get some amazing package deals. Staples, for example, usually, in the first week or two, will offer Quicken Deluxe at a sale price that equals the rebate. In addition, you can usually get Norton AV with a special rebate that, added to the "upgrade" rebate amkes it free. Last year (after rebates) for about $50 I got

- Turbo Tax Deluxe Federal & State

- Quicken Deluxe 05

- NAV 2005

They'll often add other stuff like shredders, etc.

Warning - I tried Quiken 2005 and was very disappointed. Downloads in Quicken 2005 will only let you download from a small list of participating financial instituions.. Quicken 2005 does NOT have a way to import either QIF or OFX file formats for checking accounts, which my 2 small credit union supports and my broker support. They claim to support OFX, but really only work with banks that sign up for their QFX file formats.

I finnaly stopped using Quicken after 14 years.
