Quicken 2008 Deals?

Are there any deals out there for Quicken Premier?

I am a looong time user of Quicken and upgrade generally every 2 yrs or so and think Q2008 seems like a worthy upgrade from 2006. I am perfectly happy supporting developers with new releases. However, I can't justify the $80 price tag, and it seems the past few years Intuit's price has gone up and up, and fewer store specials on them (unless I'm just not seeing them).

I was also happy to see an update to the Home Inventory program from many releases back. At that time (2004??), I'm pretty sure it was bundled with the Deluxe version, but even now, "Premiere" does not include it - it's a seperate $25 add-on.

So, any deals out there?

Staples will have them in their ad this coming Sunday (9/9). Deluxe is $39.99, Premier $69.99, H&B $79.99, all after a $20 "easy rebate" (submitted online). If you are a Costco member, it looks like they are selling Premier for $61.99 (plus $6.95 shipping if you buy it online). H&B is only $64.99. I'd imagine that other stores will have specials in this weekend's ads, check on Sunday.

==============I got QD 2008 for $39.95 from an email from Quicken with free shipping and a copy of Willmaker 2008 ( for whatever that is worth ).

If you have registered your Quicken, I would think you would get an email offer also.

Hank Do you ge the bundle in stores like Staples or Best Buy, or is this something you download from the web.

It's sad, but I haven't been convinced (first time in probably 15 years) to get Q2008 - just doesn't seem like there's a single thing compelling in the release. So I guess I'll wait until the TT Bundle.

(Of course, if I see the box in Staples/BB this weekend, I might break down....)

Intuit's business model for at least the last 5 years has been to reserve the best deals for the office supply stores (Staples, etc) and to charge near retail for downloads or direct purchases.

I thought I recalled from previous years that the TTAX bundle did not include Premier, but only basic or Deluxe. Am I wrong on this?

Please see my post above, I prefer to support the developers that have worked so hard to create this software. Now, having said that, I still find $80 steep...

I prefer to support the developers (and also give them their deserved grief for programming faux pas).

I am looking for legitimate deals, I am not looking to steal software.

Every year when they release TT, the brick & mortar stores offer bundle deals that include software and hardware (usually another shredder) with rebates. Staples has, in the past, offered Q Deluxe on sale at a price that made it free with the rebate. Last year, they didn't do it.

I always get TTAX every year, so I like to wait. Also, it gives Intuit time to put out the first update... ;-)

I don't know. I only get the Deluxe version. They also usually bundle other stuff like a shredder and rebates on software like Norton AV, etc.. Hasn't been that interesting the past years, but I still wait since I'm gonna get TT anyway and it lets Intuit ship updates....

I uprade Premier yearly and either succumb to Intuit's QP download, or I wait for the Staples deal. The TTAX/Q deals that come later in the season always include Quicken Deluxe AFAIK. I checked Staples' web site, and QP2008 is listed at $89.99 with a $20 easy rebate. I purchased QP2008 as an Intuit download, but I found a coupon code, so including tax it cost me ~$76, within a dollar of the Staples deal. That is, unless Intuit is still doing their $10 rebate. I see no mention of that in the Staples ad.

I buy QH&B every year at staples. I always get Staples to price match Costco in store price which is always $20-30 less than staples and normally they have a mail in rebate for another $20-40 to boot. For Example Staples Starting Sunday Sept 10 2007 will have QH&B for $99.99 with $20 E-Z rebate and a free copy of Quicken Inventory but Costco has it for $77.99. So I will have Staples Price match Costco Price making QH&B $75.29(110% of the difference) and I will get a free copy of Quicken Home Inventory too so my net price after $20 rebate will be $55.29+tax. I have my local staples price match Costco now for 6 years in a row as Staples is in the same Center as Costco and right next door to them they never complained or put up a fight at all.

Yep, we have to support Intuit's offshore Quicken programming staff in India. ;-)
