Quicken 2011 Deluxe: Income vs Expenditure report

In Quicken 2002 there used to be a simple Income vs Expenditure bar graph, where without regard to categories etc. it just showed a simple bar graph with, per moth, a green bar for income and a red bar for expenditure. The idea was you could very quickly look and see if you were spending more than you were receiving, and look back over x months for that as well.

I can't seem to find that option in 2011 Deluxe - am I missing something?

Cheers, Ian

The only such graph I know of can be found in two places: the Spending > Income and Expense by Category report/graph, and the Home tab Income vs Expenses snapshot. The Q2002 graph had gray bars for income, green bars for expenses. At some point, newer Quicken versions began using green bars for income and blue bars for expenses.

Neither graph was/is "without regard to categories etc.": both graphs can be customized for accounts, categories and tags (classes in Q2002). The default customization was/is all accounts, all categories, all tags.

You can "Save" a Spending > Income and Expense by Category graph and put an icon on the Quicken Toolbar to display it with one click.

You can add the Income vs Expenses snapshot to any Home tab "view" using the "Customize" button on the Home tab and choosing "Income vs Expenses" from the "Available Items", then clicking "Add". [You can add multiple Income vs Expenses snapshots to the same (or multiple) Home tab views, and customize each differently.

Thanks - the Home tab's Income vs Expenses was exactly what I was looking for.

Have now added it to the home view.
