Quicken Deluxe R8 Released Today

Quicken 2016 Release 8 Release Notes

Investing IMPROVED: Placeholder transactions can be deleted all at once instead of resolving each one. FIXED: An issue where checking 'Unrealized Gains' checkbox showed incorrect opening balance row on Investment Transaction Report. FIXED: An issue where the placeholder transaction would get deleted even when the placeholder is not resolved. FIXED: CTRL+X shortcut keys wouldn't take the user from one side of the transfer to the other side, especially in investing register

Online Bills IMPROVED: Quicken now remembers the previous payment instruction for a payee and auto-populates the fields for the next instruction (Account / Category / Split & Memo) when paying a bill. FIXED: An issue where the 'Skip' button on a bill would not actually Skip the bill.

Account Reconciliation FIXED: An issue where reconciliation window would not retain the 'Sort order' for Date column. FIXED: An issue where the downloaded transactions would not be displayed in 'Downloaded Transactions' tab.

Data File password IMPROVED: Introducing the ability to remove forgotten password from a data file by answering security questions, without having to upload the file to a server.

Invoices FIXED: An issue where Quicken could have emailed duplicate invoices when sent in HTML format.

Backup and Restore FIXED: An issue where 'Restore from backup' would not work while using Quicken Backup.

File Conversion FIXED: An issue where all transactions would be lost for some users while upgrading from 2015 R8 to 2016, if the data file had a few corrupted records.

Improved Customer Feedback Reporting IMPROVED: Integrated with a new tool which allows customers to provide feedback on bank download connectivity. The new tool allows us to proactively work on fixing issues before you report them to us.

Update failed twice this morning as has happened with prior updates and I have had to re-install the complete update. I could not find a link for this update to the full install module.

Failed for me the first time when offered from the OSU status page. Retried OSU, offered again and it worked.

Bad Intuit, bad.

For the past (approximately) four updates, I have been obliged to use the mondo patch. The in-program update failed each time. I can confirm that as of this moment, the R8 files are not featured on

You might try completely uninstalling Quicken, then reinstalling and let it update to the latest version as a part of the install process. I've had some sucess with that fixing the ability to do inline updates. You can also dig for the patch log - that usually identifies the reason why the patch failed, which might lead you to a permanent fix.

Just a quick comment to let others know the failure of R8 to install cleanly is not systemic. Worked fine for me within the program.

Same here - worked fine within the program.

I downloaded the update patch. It took 2 tries. The first time, it got to 'stopping quicken services', then Windows said the program had stopped and closed it. I tried again, and the patch installed.

And.... same here. No problem what-so-ever.

I updated to Quicken 2016 Release 8, then had a problem getting every thing about Quicken to work correctly. I then updated to the mundo patch and continued to have problems. I reinstalled Q-2016 and everything seems to work better. My Release # is Quicken 2016 Release 8 (25.1.8.5). Is this correct? Thanks

I'm running release 7 (25.1.7.7), and haven't seen anything about 8. Is it just too soon for me to get it, or am I missing something?

R8 (25.1.8.5) availability should pop up when you do a OSU.

If you get impatient, you could google for "quicken mondo patch". This will show you a link to intuit.com where the R8 patch is now available.

I do an OSU every morning. It's never popped up.

I just did that, thanks. I'm now running 25.1.8.

But I still wonder why it was never offered to me with OSU.

I agree though, but it was my second attempt. The first didn't work because I didn't do a OSU apparently, and jumped ahead. The next time I tried a little later, it went off without a hitch. Finicky haha.

Quicken has been staging patches for some time now, so some users will be able to get the newest release before others.

When it's time for you to get the latest patch, Quicken should download and apply it during a One Step Update.

I suggest you bookmark this site:

Generally, within 24 hours or so, after the latest patch is available to everyone, you can download it from that url.

Since that site only has the most recently available patch, you might also want to bookmark this site:

In case you need a patch that's no longer available from Quicken directly, you can usually get it from QuicknPerlWiz's web site.

Personally, I always download and save both patches for every Release: the Manual patch, and the Mondo patch. That way I am never dependent on the internet to be able to reinstall Quicken.

Thanks, I suspected something like that. That's what I meant when I said "Is it just too soon for me to get it."

R8 has been available at the site I mentioned earlier for several days now.
