Is is safe to upgrade to Quicken Premier 2016 as yet? I understand they are up to R3 now but I see many negative comments from the Nov. time period.
What are the current significant problems as of now?

I've been using Quicken 2016 Premier since it was released and have had no problems. I've downloaded the updates as they became available and all has gone well. My use of this software is not very complex. I use it for my bank accounts and credit cards. I used to use it for numerous stock investments but I got out of the market a few years ago and haven't needed this service since. Gordon
R4 just released yesterday. If the program is not stable enough for you now, maybe you should just wait for Q2017. Assuming there is one.
Two problems:
I always have to resort to the "mondo patch." All four updates have failed to install directly from the program itself.
I experienced a new problem with one step update. I always update several accounts at once. "one step," right? Then I noticed that no transactions downloaded for a few days. No error messages either. In reaction, I configured Quicken to show results of "one step update," even when successful. I also updated my accounts one at a time for a few days. Problem seems to have vanished for now. Quicken to always
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Editing error.
As has Gordon, I have had zero negative issues with Quicken Premier 2016. Each "Rx" has downloaded & applied with no issues.

2014 Home & Business to Quicken 2016 H&B on Jan 6th. The initial installation went well, including a prompted update to Rel 3. I exhaled deeply when the first One Step Update went well, although I am annoyed with the extra prompt to update to the Cloud. (Can't imagine the source of a desire to share your financial records with Intuit, given the very poor security demonstrated by the internet community of vendors). Now, yesterday during a One Step Update, I was prompted to update to Rel 4. I clicked Update. Big mistake. Now Q2016 fails to start, referencing a Problem Event Name of CLR20r3 in qw.exe and a Problem Signature 09 of System.IO.FileLoadException.
I don't know if the "r3" in the CLR20r3 refers to Rel 3 of Quicken. If so, then Q2016 may be having a problem with a mismatch of release.
So far, in an effort to bring Q2016 back to life, I have downloaded the "Mondo" patch, QW2016R4Patch.exe and run it. Unfortunately it quickly pops up a dialog box, telling me that Rel 4 is already installed.
I have seen one person say that they were successful by first uninstalling Q2016 via Windows' Control Panel applet and then reinstall from original source and then install the "Mondo" patch update. I guess that I am going to have to donate another couple of hours of free labor to the Intuit corporate coffers by re-installing.

I have used Quicken Premier 2013 for 3 years now without any problems. The only reason I would upgrade is to continue to download stock prices and financial transactions. Any improvements are not expected or really needed.
That's what I did - fortunately, it did not take that long.
One thing - I would suggest that you decline the installer request to update Quicken to the latest version. Just install whatever version is on the disk, and then let the Mondo patch do the rest.
