I was doing some prelim work in TurboTax, and imported a couple of 1099's - from those financial institutions that had sent me paper 1099's.
Vanguard mutual funds - Import avail and ok
TRowe mutual funds - tried Import, but it said "no data avail" I'm guessing that even though I received a paper 1099, there online Import shadow file is not avail just yet.... bad logistics...
BTW - just noticed a tiny bug in TT for the 1099-Div page...
When I Imported my mutual funds from Vanguard, the Imported data had set all the non-used amount fields to "0" vs just leaving blank. The data must have downloaded this way.
It appears that the Exempt Interest - box 10 - when "0" triggers the "Exempt Interest" entry on the Sched B.
I resolved it by "blanking out" the original "0" entry on the 1099-div.
Without looking at the forms or trying to understand this in detail, it sounds like this is not a good thing! Did you submit a 'bug' to TT (hopefully there's an easy way to do that).
(I expect to also d/l my Vanguard mutual fund 1099s as well later this season, so I'll watch out for what you are saying deeper at that time!)
