TurboTax 2009 positive feedback

Just started using TurboTax 2009 Deluxe.

So far I like the user interface better than in previous years.

Like the Import from Quicken better. Gave me more information; gave me more opportunity to change what was imported - or at least made it easier to figure out what I wanted to import and didn't want to import; recognized a duplicate (something to do with Social Security) and asked if it should skip or import the duplicate data.

Asked if I want to skip W-2s for now and continue.

Did you find the $1000 property tax exemption? (Not the itemized deduction but the exemption that comes off of the top.)

Hi, news.octanews.com. (Is that really your name?)

I didn't think about it until you asked. ;^}

Yes, it's on the Standard Deduction Worksheet for Form 1040 Line 40. There may be other ways to get there, but I use the Forms Mode, and I just click on the Quick Zoom box just above Line 40, after the caption, "Quick Zoom to the Standard Deduction Worksheet". Since I had already imported the $2300 I paid in 2008, the worksheet had already included the $1000 in my standard deduction, raising it from $13,000 (for 2 Senior Citizens filing jointly) to $14,000.

Thanks for the reminder.

And, yes, I like this interface better than in TurboTax for prior years.

RC or anyone...

What is the $1000 property tax exemption? I live in CA and pay several thousand in property taxes on my home. Where can I read more about this? I use TaxCut BTW...(not that it matters).

I must have been asleep when this was enacted.

I too just started using it and immediately hit a problem. The first screen asks you to register. Whether you fill it out or not, there is no way to go to the next screen because the "Continue" button is not visible to click on. Searching their database it seems several users have been stung by this wierd bug.

The solution: in the last registration field, click on tab, and then .

Not a good start ......

Dollars to donuts you're using an increased Windows DPI setting as I am. I see this all the time on sites where it never occurs to young programmers with 20-20 vision that others are no longer so fortunate !

Same problem here 1024x768 Large Fonts. Temporarily changed the resolution and there was the continue button. Dumb not to put scroll bars on the screen. So far the rest of TT looks fine. There are places in Quicken with similar issues.

Scroll bars do not help. No matter what I did the continue button did not appear.
