What a mess!

I am using Q2008 H&B. As I am reconciling my 2Q 2008 data I noticed something very strange in the register of one of my investment accounts.

The account is called TDSP. It actually consists of a single investment, "Large Company Index Fund". But suddenly another investment, "Blackrock NY Ins Muni Inc Trust" has shown up in TDSP in Quicken. The register transactions shows many transactions with Blackrock in the security column, but the corresponding Description column entries show correct transactions saying "x.xxx shares of Large Company Index @1". These descriptions are of correct transactions...only the Security column is incorrect.

I do own Blackrock in a totally different Account, and those transactions seem OK.

I cannot manually edit the transactions, the Security Name and Account are greyed out on the edit screen.

It sounds like, when you created the account within Quicken, you designated it a "Single Mutual Fund" account. This would explain why you can't edit the security name. It also appears that you designated Blackrock as the fund held by the SMF.

Turn this feature off (in the "Account Attributes" box of the summary screen) and you should be able to edit/correct the entries within the account.

Your experience is a great example of why the use of SMF is discouraged by experienced Q users.
