What's the proper way to transfer a mut fund and cash between brokers?

I have a Roth IRA at Schwab and have not been happy with the way they have been servicing my account. I'm transferring the whole account to my already existing Roth IRA at Vanguard.

How do I properly record this in Quicken?

You enter transactions into Quicken based on what the two financial institutions tell you happened. I did this a few years ago. I filled out some paperwork to have my holdings moved. A few days later the old brokerage showed that X shares of fund Y had been removed. The next day the new brokerage showed that X shares of fund Y had been added. Some funds were proprietary so they were sold and the cash was withdrawn. The next day the cash (less the transfer fee) was deposited in the new account.

I should think all you need to do is create the new account and then transfer the shares. The help file walks you through it.
