Quicken 2013/TurboTax Bundle

Does anyone have any thoughts on when a Quicken 2013/TurboTax Bundle might be available for sale someplace like Costco or Amazon.com (if it ever is)?

Should I give up and buy TurboTax now, or should I wait for a bundle to be offered?

They're currently $50 each for the Deluxe versions. I see no bundles...

You can wait for a bundle but aren't they usually available by now?

Nor do I. That's why I asked.

I don't remember, and that's why I asked. Should I wait longer or is it time to give up?

I've been looking for the same thing. Best I've seen so far is $40 off when you buy both from Staples, but that still ends up being $80 for the pair. ($69 + $49

- $40).

Seems to be there were better deals after Chirstmas. I'm not in a huge hurry - the tax law situation is all up in the air for now and there haven't been many changes since QD 2012, so I'll hold off and see what shows up in January.

Thanks. I'm not in a huge hurry either. I'll definitely buy TurboTax, but won't upgrade Quicken from 2012 to 2013 unless there's a really good bundle price for it.

Like you, I'll wait until January unless a bundle comes out sooner. I won't have all the documents I need to do my taxes before February or so, anyway.

I'd wait. I don't think the price will go up, I might wait as long as February to see what happens....

As I recall. for the past few years, the TT+Q bundles only came with the Starter edition of Q. And the Starter edition is for new users only, it does not allow the import of existing Q files!

Thanks. I'm still waiting. I'll probably wait either until a good deal presents itself or I have all my tax documents and am ready to start using TurboTax. That might be February.

Thanks. If that's case, I won't be interested in a bundle. But I'll still wait and see.

You just have to read carefully. Looks like Amazon now has a combo deal through next year: Both QD2013 and TTax 2012 for $65...

?? I just clicked on your link and it showed me TurboTax Deluxe Federal + E-File + State 2012, for $48.57. The price is different from $65 and there's no mention of Quicken.

But if I could buy both for $65, I'd gladly do so, Can you point me to the correct link?

That is the correct link. If you click on it, it shows TurboTax for $48.67. Scroll down the page to the section Special Offers and Product Promotions and copy the discount code for Quicken Deluxe (not Starter). Then scroll up to the Frequently Bought Together section and click on the "Buy Both for $98.66" button. When you go to your shopping cart or check out, be sure to enter the code you copied into the promo box for the $35 discount netting $63.66. I have Prime so 2 day shipping is free, but I suspect it would qualify for free (slow) shipping as it's over $50.

Yes, you're right. Having assumed that the link was wrong, I didn't look down the page. But I just ordered it, and yes, the slow shipping is free.

Thanks very much.

You're welcome!

The slow shipping was pretty fast. They arrived today, and I just installed both products.

It's too soon to have any opinion about TurboTax, since I've so far done nothing but verify that my personal data is correct; I won't be able to really start using it until the 1099s arrive in February.

But Quicken 2013 looks just like Quicken 2012. So far I don't see anything there that's new and of interest to me. But we'll see, as I get more experience using it.

I was struck by that as well. They usually change the UI enough to make it seem like you are getting something "new." This time except for the "2013" in the title, I had a hard time seeing any changes.

Yup! On the other hand, the bundle of the two cost me about $15 more than TurboTax alone would have cost, so I can't get very excited over having wasted money on it.

Ah, so if you saw a $10 bill and a $5 bill on the ground, you'd walk on by without picking them up? Uh huh.

The only meaningful change that I've seen (And I really like) is that there is a new search facility inside an individual register as well as the existing global search outside. The individual search facility only shows individual register entries and are cut down as you type additional characters in the search bubble.

Quite handy.

Thanks very much. I hadn't noticed that before, but I just tried it and also like it a lot.
