Free File Fillable Forms

Jan 18, 2011 4 Replies

I have a foreign resident US citizen, and have a foreign mailing address, so I can not use e-file with Free File Fillable Forms. If I use them I must print out the forms and mail them in. Is there any advantage to doing this instead of using the fillable PDF forms on the IRS site, filling them in, and saving them on my computer? Adequately printed down and backed up, of course.

Doesn't take up precious disk space on your computer? ;-)

Do the free file forms do the math? The fill in PDF forms do not.

Some of the math, like add columns. They dont do more complicated things like formulas in worksheets.

A note on some additional bad news. I was starting with the 2010 FFFF forms. However a couple of basic ones like 1040-Schedule A arent available until 2/14/2011.
