Ordering IRS Forms by Mail

Feb 14, 2013 2 Replies

I went to the IRS Web site and tried to order some forms by US mail. I could order form 1040, but it did not recognize Form 2555. It would, however, let me download Form 2555. Does this mean that I am doing something wrong, or that the paper version is not ready, or something else?

Good luck I ordered forms on Jan 3rd, received an acknowledgement post card telling me soon. Soon hasn't come yet. There are no IRS forms in the post office or the library (California forms have been received and are in the post office and the library).

The word in the AARP TaxAide community is that the IRS waited a long time before ordering the forms from the printer (probably waiting for congress to do something in December.

A different approach has worked for me. I downloaded the 2012 instructions for form 1040, and used the mail-in form on page 103 to order paper copies of other forms and publications. The documents arrive over time.
