Unexplained change in refund date.

Hi:

I wonder if anyone else has had the following experience:

I submitted my taxes electronically last month, and in due course the "where's my refund" service in the IRS website told me I would get my refund on March 15th, with electronic deposit. Nothing happened on the

15th, and I went back into "where's my refund" only to find that the date had been shifted to the 30th of March! I called the IRS and after the usual delay was told that there was nothing wrong with my return, and that they had no record that the date had ever been anything but the 30th ! Tiresome, since I had rather planned to have my refund in hand earlier, Moral is never assume a thing, and only bank on a refund when its in your account safe and secure

Is it common for them to shift the refund date with no reason given and no apparent record kept, and has anyone else had this experience?

My refund was delayed by one week from its original projected date. The IRS "corrected" my return by deleting the $250 Economic Recovery Payment I correctly reported on Line 10 of Schedule M, thus increasing my refund by $250. I'm now stuck with the task of convincing the Service I'm not entitled to the additional $250.

The explanation of the change appeared on "where's my refund" a few days before the refund was issued - you may want to check there again just prior to the 30th.

As with any financial transaction, don't spend it until you have it. In IRS matters, you may not be able to spend it even when you do have it. ;-)

Thanks for the response. That does not sound promising. I used TurboTax for the return so there should be no deep issues (I hope).

The strange thing is that when I called them on the phone (and spoke to a real live person) I asked if there was any problem with the return, and was told there was not. I wonder whats up!
