It's the tenth anniversary of my first post here today. The funny thing is I can't remember how I stumbled across this forum, or learnt of usenet. I guess that the internet makes everything so easy it's not memorable.

I've just had a trawl through google groups and the earliest post of mine I can find in uk.finance is 27th Feb 1996.
I've never been a prolific poster, though I read the group regularly.
So I beat you by a few months. I could have sworn I first posted in late 95 though. Do you think some posts could have gone missing?

Not me. I got my first modem sometime in 1998 and discovered usenet in about 1999.
I'm not sure that Google has a complete archive as the first post is March 94. I would have expected uk.finance to have been one of the first groups set up whenever the UK universities got access as there has always seemed to be a fair amount of interest from academics.
A quick search reveals that usenet got going (1990) after JANET (1984)

I looked back at Google and couldnt find any posts of mine prior to 5 Nov 1995 (I am sure I was posting before that) and the group stats for Oct 95 had me listed in the top 10 which seems to indicate that Google stops in Nov 95. Perhaps if somebody could remind me when the Amstrad PC1512 came out (my first PC) then I can get a fix on the years.
