A case of responsible lending from a bank?

In short an unemployed teenager was on drugs. Her mother went with her to the bank and was completely open about the situation and asked the bank not to give an overdraft if asked by the daughter. This was noted and shown to them on the screen. Months later the girl went in (still unemployed, dishevelled and on drugs) and asked for 50 overdraft. They gave her an immediate 1200 overdraft and she took 850 in cash and spent it all on heroin and overdosed. Later the bank agreed (no doubt reluctantly) to write of the debt saying they were sorry for the confusion.

The banks are always bleating that they lend responsibly but this hardyl goes to confirm it.
