I have one.
I have just received a marketing email :
"Welcome to your first Online Card Services email for your Amazon.co.uk MasterCard. You will receive an email each month which will inform you of the latest developments and benefits using our Online Card Services with your Amazon.co.uk MasterCard."
I would treat this as a marketing email - there was no "unsubscribe" feature on the email.
I have never requested or agreed to receive marketing material
I logged in to my account - there was no "unsubscribe" for marketing emails there either.
I have telephoned their support line to complain and to tell them I have never asked for such emails - I do not want them.
They have said that it will take up to 8 weeks to stop the emails.
When I queried this, they said that the "regulations" said that they can have "at least eight weeks" for such a matter.
Questions :
Are they correct - legally - in everything they are doing/saying.
(I have told them the next marketing email I get - I will cut up the card. The guy said that I could not do that - and I would have to inform their accounts department. Well let's see :-)
