if its all done electronically why cant it be updated on a Sunday or Bank Holiday.

It probably is if you use a service till to draw some cash, however, no other items are usually posted on those days, standing orders and direct debits being applied only during the working week.

It can .. in many cases it is, although there is a general agreement to =pretend= nothing happens until a working day .. however my account shows debits/credits on Saturday .. which then becomes Sunday, which then becomes Monday (or Tuesday, if Monday is a Bank Holiday) .. however the balance is correct all the time.
