Barclays-hanging on to your money

I had a one year bond with Barclays which matured on the 6th Jan. Prior to this date I received a letter from them detailing what the interest would be and inviting me to select how I would like to be paid. I asked them to send me a cheque. It is now the 12 Jan and there is no sign of any cheque. I have telephoned them on several occasions. One one occasion I was told it was in the post. Barclays will gain a few quid from hanging on to my money for as long as they can but they have lost a customer who would never invest with them again and who will go out of his way to advise people against investing with them.

Why do they act in such a short sighted way, like a back street firm that isnt interested in customers coming back?

Bad business from their POV I would have thought. Still bankers know what they are doing, dont they? :-)

Thet are not alone.... Norwich Union..or should i say Aviva make you jump through so many hoops to get your dosh. Once I have my money out it wont go back again. I am just amazed that a minority act like double glazing companies...not expecting any repeat sales!
