Woolwich windfall/Barclays

Hello

I got a letter from an outfit called "Shareholder Solutions" telling me about some unclaimed money due to me from the Woolwich flotation.

I contact Barclays, who said that the only way I can claim the money is through Shareholder Solutions (paying about 150 for the privilege).

Is there really no other way to get the money? And has anyone heard of Shareholder Solutions? It isn't a scam is it?

Thanks

James

I haven't heard of Shareholder Solutions. You say that you've tried Barclays, have you tried the Woolwich Shareholder Helpline (if its's still operational)?:

Going back to this, I remember my niece at the time never claimed her Woolwich shares when they were privatised nor her Barclays shares when they were taken over. She still automatically received the original Woolwich share certificate, the original Barclays share certificate and even the recently re-issued certificate so I don't understand how you can't have (automatically) gotten shares when they were due to you. A quick call to the shareholder helpline after both events confirmed that even those who didn't fill in their forms would automatically get the number of shares they were entitled to.
