Business Banking

Quick question: may be about to set up a new business via limited company. Who are the best banks to approach - looking for good deals on business banking arrangements and advice for startups. Unlikely to need to borrow so overdraft facilities & interest rates are of much less importance.

Thanks, KF

Natwest - have your own relatsionship manager, free of charge, who will have direct and mobile nos, as well as contact through their assistant and central telephony.

Generally considered by many to be the 'business' bank, fee structure not unreasonable either.

I used to use Lloyds TSB for my company, but recently switched to Abbey Business Banking. This doesn't make charges, it pays a good rate on credit balances and has the usual online facilities. I don't think it does advice, though; you might prefer to get some from your accountant anyway.

I moved my Ltd. company account to Abbey a year or more ago and it's been fine. I was with Flemings (who became Cater Allen) until they started charging.

Why not use an investment trust like Personal Assets Trust . Set up by the managers as a tax efficient way to manage their own portfolios. They have a remarkably down to earth approach as evidenced in their quarterly reviews
