Online business banking

May 04, 2005 4 Replies

I do some occasional contract consultancy work, usually being paid by cheque.

At the moment, I have a business bank account with the RBOS (no maintenance charge, and 40p per cheque written).

I'm looking at online alternatives: I have a personal account with smile.co.uk, and I'd love to have a business account with them (they only do personal accounts, I believe).

I'll need something which will be completely online, as I may be moving overseas at some point in the future, but leaving my banking in the UK.

The possibility of having US Dollar and Euro accounts is also attractive.

Any pointers on where I might look for reviews of business alternatives, or any tips for a newbie?

Thanks :)

do you do this in your own name, as a Ltd Company, or ??

Phil

I've got a separate company name, not a Ltd company, just a sole trader business.

Would make things a lot easier if it was just my name instead :)

Abbey offer free business banking and you can do just about everything on line. I've been with them for a couple of years with my Ltd. company and have no complaints.

I use Abbey Business Banking on line virtually completely (but you do get a cheque book too.

There are no charges for life within certain (very adequate) limits.

I've been with them for two years and recommend them to everyone.
