Credit Card Overlimit...

My Capital One Credit Card has gone 2.39p Overlimit. I don't get paid till tomorrow and thats whem I'll make a payment of 42.20p and another payment of 36.30p (78.50p in total) on Tuesday (Thats when my wife gets paid). I know it takes 3 days for the money to be credited to the account.

I've been reading the T&C and it says "If you exceed the credit limit you may be charged an overlimit fee". Will they still charge a fee (12) for this small amount? I've only had the card since mid Jan '08.

More than likely - they're within their rights - and the fee will be imposed by a computer which just applies the rules without using any discretion. It's possible they may waive it if you ring up and grovel once it appears on your statement.

It takes 3 *banking* days to transfer the money - and this Friday and next Monday are bank holidays - so you're looking at Thursday of next week before it arrives.

It's generally a good idea to keep your nose completely clean with a new credit card for at least the first year, in order to build up a good record.

Have you gone over the limit? If you have gone over the limit then of course they`ll charge you the fee, it`s automatic. If you ring up and talk to them you`ll probably find they`ll refund it this once, but be aware they won`t do it again in the future unless you`re a big spending customer, which is unlikely with a Capital one card.

Not so... Once I made a online payment via Capital One's website on a Friday, it shown up on the online statement on the Saturday and cleared on the Sunday!
