Direct Debits - indemnity claim.

A direct debit was set up on my account and used for three months. It was from a mobile phone company and the highest amount was £25. I did not notice as I rarely check the account. Eventually I filled an indemnity claim with the bank.

Does anyone know how something like this could happen? I have no relationship with the company concerned. Incidentally, I do not suspect fraud from the person who setup the direct debit since one would use the phone for more than c. £20 of calls per month.

Was it some kind of typographical error or something else?

Thanks.

Don't be so sure. I have know of card fraud whereby the amounts were kept low so that there was less chance of being noticed on heavy use accounts.
