Egg Money Manager

Have been considering using Egg Money Manager for a while and I quite fancy the idea of having it, but concerned about the privacy and security issues. Can Egg see all your other accounts, or do they only appear on your screen whilst logged on to the EMM. Also, although I see there is a large list of finance organisations you can access via EMM, does any of them mind you using EMM. Egg reckon all the details of your accounts is kept in a secure file on your own PC so your not telling anyone else your passwords, right?

Doesn't answer your question but I use the First Direct version of the same thing. Apparently all data stored on your pc rather than back at FD. Makes sense as I wanted it on my laptop aswell, although they said I would use the same login etc I would need to reenter all bank usernames / passwords etc again once the basic "safe" as they call it was downloaded on the pc.

Without a hint of irony, "Neaco" astounded uk.finance on 02 Nov 2004 by announcing:

No.

They are stored on your computer and your Egg login is used to 'unlock' them.

Most (if not all?) accounts with internet access can be used.

Probably, officially.

Correct. However, you tend to be covered against fraud etc. only if you have logged directly into your account. EMM would technically breach that condition.

I logged into some online banking service the other day (not sure which one, either HSBC, Natwest, Barclays, Halifax, IF, Coventry BS or A&L) and saw a notification of change of terms/reminder? to that effect taking about account consolidation services so I'm not sure if they object to you using it or don't mind as long as you accept it is at your own risk.
