Endowment shortfalls and huge profits.

Hi! As a Norwich Union endowment holder who has been advised that our policy will probably end with several thousands of pounds shortfall, should I be encouraged by the fact that NU's parent company, Aviva, made a 1.9 billion profit? My guess is 'no'! Now it's established that endowment companies can get away with not having to pay out people's full morgage values (let alone any additional bonuses), they're hardly likely to be in a hurry to do so, even if the stock market does well over the next few years. I don't think I was mis-sold my endowment. Mis-selling is a red herring in most cases, as it was generally believed that endowment morgages were a good thing in the 80's. No, it is the subsequent behaviour of the endowment companies in the mid to late 90's that should be under investigation. cheers, RB
