Halifax Cashback Points

I have the Halifax One credit card and have amassed a whopping 754 cashback points! Does anyone know what this equates to? And how do you use them? :-)

Thanks,

Geordie

Yeah. I was pretty disgusted at that too. What do you use now?

They all seem a bit crap now. I don't use credit cards to actually use my credit limit; just to buy stuff with extra protection online and even in shops, wherever. So all the `0% balance transfer and 9.6% off 20% buy now pay june 2007` excitement is lost on me. So I looked at cashback but it's a bit of a non-runner, really. I think I get 28p back for every £7000 I spend.

Morethan (0.8%) seems to be the best around these days.

It's hardly worth the effort and hassle really, I could save/earn a lot more than £35 in the time it would take me to change cards frequently enough to do me much good.

Ah, but can you earn 35 / 0.59 = 59-ish in that time? [Pre-tax ... !]

Yes! :-) ... and it's much more fun than playing games with credit card accounts (for me anyway!).

Surprises me that Accucard (and presumably its stablemates MoreThan, Easycard, etc...) are lowering to 0.5 as it was a good 'differentiator' from the likes of Smile, Nationwide etc (all good cards but I want more than 5%!).

Sounds like no-one here has looked at Morgan Stanley - their cashback card gives 1% on the first £2000 spent in a year and 0.5% on all expenditure after that (used to be the other way around but I like it this way!).

However it's a platinum card so maybe their credit checks etc are a bit tougher.

I think it has the usual caveats, e.g. if you miss payments you may lose your cashback or something like that. But you can pay full or min amount by DD, and you can set it up online to email you when payments are due or received.

Customer service is fairly good too, and freephone.

Until November 1st when it's being reduced to 0.5%. I think the best one is Amex Blue if you spend enough to qualify for 1% cashback.

The cashbank rules are certainly odd, surely they should keep it at 1% afterall you're making them money the more you spend. I'd get this card if I had the income for it but I wouldn't spend a penny more than £2,000 if I could get a better cashback deal somewhere else.
