Looking for a 1% cashback visa/master credit card.

They are thinner on the ground than you think.

I have an Amex blue, but not everybody takes Amex.

I want a credit card that gives at least 1% cashback. No catches, no introductory periods. Just 1% on all purchases.

I've done searches but don't seem to find one.

(CapitalOne aren't doing the circle rebate card anymore.)

Any suggestions?

Thanks in anticipation :)

I hope this does not mean they are going to reduce the cashback for existing customers (like morgan stanley did a few months ago)!

Nationwide do one. We moved our current account there and got one of their cards. The "cashback" just goes in a box on the statement. One day I'll get round to asking how we actually get our hands on the cash.

Me too. However they haven't been accepting applications for several months now.

As far as I know Nationwide is only 1% for the first few months, then 0.5%.

You are right. I've just checked the statement and it has indeed gone down to 0.5%. The balance was credited to the statement a couple of months ago.

As far as I know the only true 1% cashback cards are Capital One Circle and American Express.

Unless anyone knows otherwise.

"* Paid yearly based on your annual level of purchases. The Cashback bonus? award is 1% of the first £2,000 of Purchases and 0.5% of all other purchases (up to your credit limit), made in a particular year. See Cashback Bonus rules for additional information."

I applied for mine about a month ago, received it a week later, using it quite happily.

EasyMoney are offering 0.8% but there's bound to be a catch...

I believe that is a different branded version of the Accucard.

It's basically the same thing as MoreThan. To get the 0.8%, you have to take a higher interest rate, but if you pay in full every month, that isn't a problem.

There is a Homebase-branded MBNA card which gives 1% cashback in the form of Homebase vouchers, and I would think that most people can probably find something they need to buy in Homebase to use them.

Without a hint of irony, "Stephen Burke" astounded uk.finance on 08 Feb 2004 by announcing:

Well if we're going down that route, Tesco's gives 1% back in Clubcard points (IIRC 1.5% on purchases from Tesco) ;-)

BTW, the AMEX Platinum gives up to 2% cashback. 0.5% on first 2k in the year, 1% on 2k-5k then 2% on 5k+.

Yes, but on the other hand I'd bet that you could find just about anything bought at Homebase a great deal cheaper elsewhere so that 1% isn't really worth 1%.

Err, I'm pretty sure they only give 0.5% back in clubcard points. You can swap the points for airmiles, but with the recent falls in the price of air tickets I'm not sure that's all that attractive any more.

Incidentally, I notice that the supposedly ethical Co-op only gives the equivalent of 0.25% cashback on their charity cards, so if you really want to be charitable you'd be better to take a regular 0.5% card and give half of it to the charity yourself!

I don't know about "a great deal" cheaper, it would have to be double the price elsewhere to not be better than an 0.5% card. Also they often have

10%-off days and their own loyalty card gives up to another 10% off.

Tesco Finest card. I read the leaflet on Saturday ;-)

You can also use the points in-store, or trade them for much more than their value on Tesco's "deals". For example, I traded 10 worth of Tesco points for 40 of Blockbuster vouchers. Depending upon how much you spend in Tesco each week (at least 60 to qualify for the 'Premium' deals) you can effectively get up to 4% back.
