Wachovia Visa Card

Recently Wachovia initiated their own Visa card for customers in PA (if not other places) to replace the Visa card they branded but was actually from MBNA. Wachovia was anxious to have customers switch from the MBNA card to their own, and I took their offer and opened the new Wachovia credit account. I set the new account up in Quicken 2007D, where it was found on the zWachovia server. The connection worked fine, though no transactions have yet to be posted to the account (reports the same if I sign on to Wachovia website and look at my account). I've added this account to my Pin vault, however each time I've clicked one-step update Quicken reports that "Wachovia requires I change my password the first time I connect", and I can only get past the Quicken window by entering a new password. It seems perfectly happy for me to maintain a two-password rotation, but this kind of defeats the purpose of a Pin Vault and a one-step update.

Has anyone else recently opened a new Wachovia Visa card and added it to their direct Quicken access? Has anyone else seen a similar occurrence of requiring a perpetual password update? Is it possible this will end when I finally get an actual transaction downloaded?

Thanks for any ideas or recommendations, Jere

I also switched to the new Wachovia Visa credit card. Currently, the direct connect for that card does not work. You have to use web connect to download transactions. I called Wachovia and they said that they're working on it and will have direct connect available "soon". What soon means, I don't know. I'm thinking of switching to the Chase Freedom card which has direct connect. BTW, I think the rewards from the old MNBA card were better than the new Wachovia Visa card.

Thanks, I'll not hold my breath. At least as of tonight, I still have not transactions posted to the account, though the available balance clearly indicates multiple holds have already occurred. I'll wait till the first transactions show up before attempting to fix anything. I never took advantage of any rewards from my old card, I pretty much only used it when my Amex (Member Plus points) or my wife's Discover (cash refund) cards were not accepted. Not often, but often enough to carry the card around in my wallet. It was also the card I jointly shared with my wife.

I appreciate your response,

So, I finally got some transactions reflected on my Web connect access, but still not on my Quicken. So, I called Wachovia Online support and found an Help analyst who was very helpful. Unfortunately, he confirmed, as you have, that Wachovia is not currently prepared to support direct Quicken access. More unfortunately, he confirmed it would not be supported until the complete transfer of all MBNA accounts are completed, probably not until the second half of 2007. Ouch. Wachovia made a pretty passionate pitch in their original letter that if I wanted to maintain the level of relationship between my accounts that I had grown accustomed to that I needed to make this transfer. Well, I was very accustomed to "One Step Update", and that is not what I have.

I have a new (real) Wachovia credit card and Wachovia checking account, and direct connect work for both. What is NOT available is quicken bill pay.

I guess it's time to look into another credit card! "Soon" to Wachovia means

7 months to a year!
