Has Abbey (National) moved it's call centre operations to India?

...if so - I'm off. I've banked with AN for over 20 years, but I don't want to talk to an Indian, who never understands what you say or what you want and always seems to respond with 'Let me just clarify that for you, Sir" - click!, whenever you ring up. And they are so fecking polite its on the verge of being sickening.

What difference does it make where their call centres are? Why the devil would you want to phone a call centre anyway? I do all my banking either on line or in person. The telephone is just, er, how is it fashionable to put this, "so last-century".

They probably give the new call centre staff worse training than the old staff, if that's possible.
