I'm 75, and I can remember my two PINs and all my passwords. When I can't, I'll worry about Alzheimers. Unfortunately some people can't remember numbers, but OTOH I can't remember faces until I've met someone several times. It can be a real problem. :)
I know all my PIN`s (5 cards), plus 2 of the actual card numbers because I spend so much online using them :-). Add on 10 computer passwords between home and work. But yeah, I'm rubbish with names :-)
Just for banks and credit cards, I've counted: 5 card numbers, 14 account numbers, 5+ sort codes, 9 PINs, 4 passwords, 5 security codes. I've ignored memorable dates and events, and access telephone numbers.
Including utility accounts and the accounts you seem to need for every online retailer, I need some 11 PINs, 20 account numbers, 14 usernames and
20 passwords (some of these are common however).
I only know from memory details of one bank account, one credit card and one debit card (very handy when using public internet). And my mother's maiden name. The rest would be impossible without recording them somewhere.
I took out £500 from a Halifax branch the other week without having to show any ID or answer any questions. I might have signed something (not sure) but that's not hard to fake - especially since my signature as signed on a slippery bit of plastic rarely looks much like it does signed on a slip of paper.
It's amazing how stupid some people can be though . I knew someone who worked on the service desk at a garage. He found it incredibly easy to just pocket some of the cash that was handed over the counter to him. He was the only person who could be doing it, but that didn't stop him. He didn't do it for very long though...
