How do I sell paper certificate shares of Lastminute.com? And what price now?

I still have those few shares that were issued in the IPO all those years ago. Firstly, what price will I get for them as I've only found out a while ago that Lastminute have been taken over a few times by other companies. The other thing is although I live in the UK, I've never had a UK broker - my only stockbroker is over the pond in the USA, would this be a help or hindrance as far as I know current owners Travelocity are an American company.

Thanks

They presumably don't have your address or you would have been sent a cheque automatically, as I was.

"19 July, 2005

NOT FOR RELEASE, PUBLICATION OR DISTRIBUTION, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, IN OR INTO AUSTRALIA, CANADA OR JAPAN

Recommended Acquisition of lastminute.com plc ('lastminute.com')

Scheme of Arrangement

The Boards of lastminute.com and Sabre Holdings are pleased to announce that the High Court of Justice has earlier today sanctioned the scheme of arrangement (the 'Scheme') to effect the recommended cash acquisition of lastminute.com by Travelocity Europe Limited (an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Sabre, Inc).

The Scheme is conditional on the Court Order sanctioning the Scheme being registered with the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales. It is expected that the Court Order will be registered on 20 July, 2005 and the Scheme will therefore become effective on that date. Accordingly, the listing of lastminute.com shares is expected to be cancelled on 20 July, 2005. The last day of dealings in lastminute.com shares on the London Stock Exchange will therefore be today, 19 July, 2005.

Under the terms of the Scheme, and in consideration for the cancellation of their shareholdings, shareholders on lastminute.com's Register of Members at

6.00 p.m. today will receive 165 pence in cash for each lastminute.com share held. It is expected that the latest day for the despatch of cheques in respect of the consideration payable, or for settlement of consideration through CREST, will be 3 August, 2005."

Damn, I moved address before that date. It's been so long since they sent the cheques I guess I'll have to kiss that money goodbye. Then again there's no point crying over 60 quid.

Thanks for the info anyway.

It seems to be unfashionable to inform the necessary individuals and organisations when you move nowadays.

Actually, no, you don't have to write it off. Whether it's worth pursuing over 60 quid is another matter. The money is held in trust for you somewhere, probably accruing a tiny amount of interest. First stage is to contact the share registrars named on the certificate you have.

If he couldn't be bothered to tell them when he moved house I can't imagine he'd go to the trouble of getting the money.
