Hello,
I opened a Citibnk flex saver account with £1000 on 7/7/2006
My interest on 31/7/2006 was £28.66 and paid £5.73 tax
Using excel XIRR function with the data (-10000, 10022.93) and (7/7/2006, 31/7/2006) tells me that it's an interest of 3.5430846%
If I divide that by 0.8 to consider the 20% tax, I get 4.42% interest.
They advertise the account as 4.83% AER, 5 % gross.
What's going on?
I should have £2.78 extra, according to my estimation.
Is my calculation wrong, or is Citibank witholding my money?
Grrrr.
