Intuit TaxCalc no more?!

I've just heard that Intuit will not be selling TaxCalc in the UK after the end of this month - so there will *not* be a 2005 version of TaxCalc.

Anyone else using them here - what are you going to use in future, any ideas?

They say that they've decided to focus all of their resources on the "small business segment" - ie QuickBooks...

I use Quicken for my home accounts and QuickBooks for my business. I received a disk this morning from Intuit containing Quicken 2004 v2 along with a letter saying that Quicken is no longer being developed for the UK market and support will be dropped in a year's time. It said that it will continue to be developed in some other countries, though. They're offering to upgrade my Quicken to QuickBooks for a 50% discount.

Fingers crossed that it will go back to being free as it has been for ages :)

It was sold by Consumers Association. Free magazine copies tended to appear shortly before the final date for submitting returns, which was too late for the organised.

Bit of a disaster this, as I have relied on TaxCalc for the past 3-4 years and in that time it's become a very slick performer indeed.

Any rumours about it being sold to anyone else? Are they really likely to dump it? I know of at least one software house specialising in accounting products that might want to acquire it...

You would have thought that enquiries would have been made to sell it before any announcement.

If they dont hurry up and sell the product and customer base many customers would make alternative arrangements.
