Mortgage & Credit Refference

I always seemed to be declined for the most simple credit such as store cards etc. I have got a credit report from Equifax and Experian. I never really use credit and have no late payments or anything like that.

Equifax seems to hold no credit info on me and has me down as address 'B'

Experian holds no credit info about me and has me down on an old address 'A'. They also list info about a family member who lived at address 'A' with me. This info includes several applications for credit and a couple of instances of late payments.

When applying for a mortgage I assume that Mortgage lenders use the above information and since I find it impossible to get simple store cards etc. will this mean I'll have trouble getting a mortgage? I have no bad credit history myself so I'm a little confused! Is it a problem with addresses not matching? To make it a little more complicated I now live at address 'C'.

What should I do before I start looking for a mortgage or will the lenders look at my report properly instead of using the 'automated' systems that department stores seem to use?

Absence of information can be a problem in itself, lenders like to see a record of debt being paid on time.

Unless you're within the time period where you have to give the old address that information isn't really going to matter. I think you can ask Experian to disassociate you from the other person if you were unconnected. Also you normally need to be on the electoral roll, since they have old addresses you presumably aren't?

Mortgages are usually less restrictive on credit scoring, they have the house as security and you aren't likely to do a runner. The main thing will be proof of salary.
