Nationwide and Travellers Cheques

Nov 05, 2004 2 Replies

I have just been informed by Nationwide, who I have been with since

1972, that I can only order travellers cheques with a credit card or debit card. They cannot take the money direct from an accountand there are no in branch facilities. So when they write to me to ask me to vote in a croney director who wants to keep NW as a mutual because it it so much better they are actually talking out of their backsides. Time to find a new bank I think.

Are you sure you haven't misunderstood? Using a debit card *is* taking money direct from your account.

Point taken, I should have pointed out that previously the NW have taken payment directly from the account but will now only do do by debit card. My card is only a cash card so that option is out. It seems that the the sale of TC's has now been outsourced to some other oufit. I don't quite see the point of offering additional services then to outsource them so that some customers then can't make use of the facility.
