NTL Oddity.

I ceased my cable TV service with NTL on 20/09/06. I used to pay £ 74 monthly by direct debit.

When the service ceased I was in credit so I called them and asked if I would get a refund. They said "Yes you will get one more bill, and it will show your account is in credit, just take the credit transfer slip attached to the bill and pay it into your bank as if it were a cheque".

So help me this is what has happened. I have a perfectly ordinary bank giro credit slip showing a negative amount, NTL say I can pay it into my bank like a cheque.

Is this the case? Surely NTL can't be wrong ;-)

I've never heard of it before.

Perhaps you need to use the slip in conjunction with a cheque you write to them as normal, but for a negative amount.

Surely?

I guess there's only one way to find out whether it works, and that's to try it. But personally, I'd be amazed if it does work. Let us know how you get on.

If you were paying by DD, they'd normally deposit such over-payment into your account. Sure this isn't simply a receipt of sorts. Tiddy Ogg.
