(Possibly OT) BT Applying a "Payment Processing Fee"

Hi all I just recieved by bill from BT, and noticed something i haven't noticed on one before That of a 4:50 payment processing fee Question is.when did THAT start being applied? TBH i never really took much notice of it before, but have recently gone "line rental only" with them, using 18185 for calls Maybe that has something to do with this charge?

At least a year ago. They used to give a DD discount, but then they reduced the line rental and instead of a DD discount they imposed a non DD charge. So the end result was no difference to anyone, but it didn't stop several long and whiny threads on various newsgroups (uk.telecom and uk.legal IIRC).

Search the usenet archives if you want to know exactly when.
