How can anyone predict furture interest rates? How can such projections take into account events that cannot be foreseen; events that could have a big effect on interest rates?

I couldn't find any relevant explanation there. What do they use to make those projections? Charting software? I guess it must be since they only have the past figures to base projections on, right? So it must be about as reliable as using charting software to predict share prices, yes?

They take everyone elses projections and maybe adjust them a little.
So yes, it's accuracy is questionable.
However a lot of things in life are determined mainly by expectations, so the underlying assumptions are not too far from true.
