Visa Elctron Vs Visa Debit

I've just had my new Santander Debit card in the post.

It is now a Visa Debit and not a Visa Electron as my old one is.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is?

Visa Debit: over-drawable; signable for; imprintable

Over-drawability is because it can be used with offline terminals.
