Autofill for shipping on RMS

Before purchasing another add-on software program, I was trying to see if I could get the built in shipping feature to work on RMS.

I set up everything according to the rather incomplete instructions that came with our system. When RMS POS calls up the FED EX website to ship the item, and I hit autofill, nothing happens. So there is apparently something that needs to be fixed. How do I do this?

Thanks, Christina

Christina, I don't think there is anyway to make RMS do shipping all by itself. I have heard something about an integration with UPS World ship which *may* be free, though reduced in functionality. I have had several customers who have had great success with an addin called Ship Rush by Z Firm

Hey there again,

The RMS system says it comes compatible already with Fed Ex and with UPS -- without purchasing ShipRush... But it just doesn't work automatically... despite what the literature says. How frustrating.

Incidentally, we could really use a reliable Microsoft RMS partner to work with on some upcoming projects. If you are such a person, and don't mind working for a small business like ours, please feel free to e-mail me at snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Yea the problem with RMS working is that UPS and FedEx and DHL change there software a lot so what did work doesn't now. Ship rush keeps up the info so it does work and they have great tech support.

One option you may want to consider is integrating with FedEx Ship Manager software. It provides ODBC support so you can connect directly to the SQL Server database of RMS. You can set it up so you just need to enter a customer account number in a box and then it automatically pulls in the address. I use this method and it works great. The one thing that's a little tricky is using shipping addresses instead of billing addresses. For most of our customers we use the billing address info for everything and leave the shipping address section empty so that simplifies things. You can deal with such a situation by creating a view in the database to combine billing and shipping addresses and use the view for Ship Manager integration.
