BARCODE IMPORT

I have just purchased the RMS system. I am totally new to RMS and am having problems importing the manufactures barcode. The resellers help facility are telling me to manually scan item products. This would be a real PAIN and I cannot believe or understand RMS being so restrictive.

I have the data that i want to import within Excel. I am saving the file as a CSV file and using the QSImport facility (Quick cell) to import the data within RMS. Th e barcode are being imported as an +E number within RMS. This is not being recognised. Any Help.

Your error is the excel. Make sure you have the product code column marked as general and not numeric. Also make sure that you save it as tab delimited [it works better]. Also in Excel prior to import make sure to verify that non lookup code is more than 30 characters long. Then use the import utility to import it in. This should do it without E at the end.

If this is an import that you have do do peridically to add new items or change prices and costs then I would suggest that you look at our RR Import Utility which is more comprehensive than the Microsoft Import with Catalogue entry feature.

Bob, open a blank excel spreadsheet. Go to Data and click on Get External Data and then the option to import a text file. Locate the file you want to import. Click on next and select comma delimited file. Click next. Highlight the Barcode (ILC) Column by clicking on the header "General', in the upper right hand corner of this window, click on Text and then click on finish. This will import the ILC (Barcode) column as text and will leave any leading zeros intact.
